Commendation and Appreciation to Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, MD/CEO of NDDC, on 25 Years of Tremendous Impact and Ongoing Transformation in the Niger Delta

On behalf of the entire leadership and members of the APC South South Youth Council (APC SSYC), we extend our heartfelt commendation to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, and the entire Governing Board and Management Team, for the laudable milestones and visible transformation being recorded under your stewardship.

As the NDDC celebrates 25 years of service to the people of the Niger Delta, we proudly acknowledge and applaud the Commission’s ongoing strides in infrastructural development, people-centered programmes, and regional advancement. The recent commissioning of the permanent Bayelsa State Office, ending years of dependence on rented facilities, is a commendable move towards institutional stability and efficiency. Similarly, the launch of the Renewed Hope Multi-Purpose Training Centre in Otuokpoti is a clear commitment to sustainable skills acquisition and empowerment.

Your administration has also demonstrated strong regional impact, as evident in the commissioning of the 8.137km road network in Calabar, Cross River State, the inauguration of the ultra-modern NDDC Cross River State Office, and the initiation of critical agricultural interventions such as the distribution of Handheld Tiller Machines to farmers — all reflecting a deep-rooted vision of regional inclusiveness and grassroots development.

We recognise the Commission’s unwavering focus on human capital development, especially through its Annual Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme, now expanded to include local postgraduate opportunities. These initiatives are laying a solid foundation for a knowledge-driven future across the Niger Delta.

We also commend the creation of the Niger Delta Chambers Of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA), a forward-thinking platform that will catalyze economic growth and support indigenous businesses across the region.

Your free medical outreaches, educational interventions like healthcare, quiz competitions, laptop distributions, and renewed sports initiatives are not only building capacity but uniting and uplifting communities.

Indeed, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, your leadership reflects compassion, commitment, and strategic foresight. While we acknowledge the significant progress made, we also use this medium to echo the concerns of many young people and women who seek more inclusive, transparent, and responsive empowerment and internship programmes. We are confident that with your people-oriented disposition, these gaps will be addressed in the spirit of equity and improvement.

As the Commission marks a quarter-century of impactful service, the APC South South Youth Council proudly stands in solidarity with Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the NDDC and reaffirms its support for your ongoing efforts to build a peaceful, prosperous, and productive Niger Delta.
