Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku: An Uncommon And  Compassionate  Politician In The Hearts  Of His People

As a young man in his early 50, Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku has positively touched lives of both young and old people in Niger Delta region and beyond. His scholarship programme as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is geared towards the educational empowerment of the future leaders.

The establishment of NDDC Microfinance Bank  Limited, Chief Ogbuku has contributed immensely towards the reduction of unemployment and crime rates in the region and Nigeria in general. This is owing to the fact that most of the young men and women that are supposed to be armed robbers and prostitutes are gainfully employed by the Commission with other empowerment programmes. And they are earning a good living and taking good care of themselves and their families.

According to him in one of the interviews he granted pressmen, he said and I quote,"my decision to go into politics is not for monetary gains but to seek for broader platform to touch more lives of our people". No doubt, Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku is so passionate about the alleviation of poverty in Niger Delta region which was previously denied the people for a better development.

Having held various political positions in the region for more than a decade. This decision he took was as a result of his hunger to change the way and manner some of the representatives of the people in government have been denying their areas the dividends of democracy.

But unknown to him, the political landscape is characterized by disappointments, backstabbing, promise and fail, etc.

He fell in love with All Progressives Congress (APC) due largely to its slogan, "APC, Change". Which means, Change from Negativity to Positivity in governance.

As a matter of fact, his entrance into the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has changed the development and political atmosphere of the entire region. He put constant smiles on the faces of both youths, women and elderly men including all the political parties in the region with other stakeholders and members are not left out in course of delivering the dividends of democraacy.

Inspite of all his intellectual contributions towards the growth and development of the region in terms of empowerment that cuts across party line which has made its members and also making the party more popular and attractive in the region for a better representation.

His decision to change the narrative of actual development for the region was mind blowing, owing to the fact that such a decision is very uncommon with modern politicians, as some said can he succeed were others failed in NDDC? This was an echolen task he took to streamline certain decisions before his table on NDDC to bring even development in the grassroot.

Such decisions were for the best interest of the people, were earlier the commission was made to serve political portfolio contractors, but that has not been seeing again. What an uncommon and compassionate politician in the hearts of his people!

I therefore appeal to the people of Niger Delta region to actively support the NDDC for its programme and policy to actualise his good intention to spread more attractive projects especially to the remote communities to feel the impact of good governance.

As he determine to succeed for the people to feel the impact of good governance, let no one wreck to truncate the smooth pace of development in the region.
