Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has unveiled a bold initiative to transform the Niger Delta into a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship. Through the establishment of Entrepreneurial Training and Business Incubation Centers, the NDDC is setting the stage for a new era of youth empowerment and regional
The centers are designed to provide young people with practical training, mentorship, and access to resources that will enable them to turn ideas into sustainable businesses. The initiative directly tackles the challenge of unemployment in the Niger Delta by equipping youths to become employers of labor rather than seekers of jobs.
“These centers are incubators of dreams,” said Dr. Ogbuku. “They provide the tools, mentorship, and opportunities for young people to build enterprises that will not only sustain them but also create jobs and strengthen communities.”
The program offers holistic support — from skill acquisition and mentorship to access to funding — ensuring that entrepreneurs have what they need to succeed. By championing entrepreneurship, Dr. Ogbuku is repositioning the Niger Delta as a hub of small and medium-scale enterprise development.
This initiative reflects the NDDC’s renewed vision to be more than an interventionist agency, but a catalyst for generational transformation. Under Dr. Ogbuku’s leadership, the Commission is building a future where the region’s young people are empowered to drive innovation, wealth creation, and sustainable progress.
