2nd Annual Faculty Conference – November 19–21, 2025

Ladies and Gentlemen, distinguished guests, scholars, and partners in development, today we gather to honour a man whose life and work embody exceptional service, visionary leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of agriculture and sustainable development in the Niger Delta and beyond.

It is with great pride that the Faculty of Agriculture, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, presents this Award of Excellence in Service to Dr. Doodei Agbabou Week, a distinguished public servant, accomplished technocrat, and transformational leader.

Dr. Week currently serves as Director of Procurement at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), where he oversees critical development initiatives with integrity, strategic foresight, and professional excellence. With a career spanning decades of dedicated service, he has successfully managed over 100 staff and more than 1,000 developmental projects, including roads, bridges, hospitals, school facilities, jetties, power projects, and ecological interventions across Bayelsa State and the wider Niger Delta region.

He is a champion of human capital development, having initiated and supervised training programmes that empowered over 8,000 youth and women with agricultural skills. Through his leadership in the Agriculture and Fisheries Directorate of the NDDC, he facilitated loan schemes benefiting more than 5,000 individuals, expanding opportunities for livelihoods and entrepreneurship.

As Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Bayelsa State (2016–2020), he conceived and completed landmark agricultural projects, including the Bayelsa Aqua-culture Farm, one of Nigeria’s largest upland fish farms, and the 60-ton/day cassava industrial starch mill, which strengthened the agricultural value chain and enhanced food security.

A scholar of exceptional depth, Dr. Week holds a Ph.D. in Geography and Environmental Management, two master’s degrees, and numerous professional certifications, including Project Management Professional, International Disaster Risk Management, Leadership and Corporate Governance from Lagos Business School, and Negotiation and Leadership from Harvard Law School. He is a Professional Fellow of renowned institutes and an associate of key professional bodies in management and agricultural economics.

Beyond his technical and administrative excellence, Dr. Week has demonstrated a deep commitment to this university. His support during the National Universities Commission’s resource verification exercise contributed immensely to the successful accreditation of the faculty’s six academic programmes—an achievement that continues to uplift the institution and its students.

Today, we honour a man of vision, humility, and service—an opinion leader, consummate farmer, mentor, community advocate, devoted family man, and champion of sustainable development.

For his distinguished contributions to agriculture, education, environmental management, capacity-building, and national development, the Faculty of Agriculture of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education proudly presents this Award of Excellence in Service to Dr. Doodei Agbabou Week.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please rise as we celebrate this outstanding son of the Niger Delta—
Dr. Doodei Agbabou Week, Ph.D.

Congratulations.
