In the heart of Tarakiri Kingdom, where culture, heritage, and leadership intertwine to shape the destiny of a proud people, two distinguished figures continue to stand tall—Prince Dr. Doodei Agbabou Week, the highly respected Director of Procurement at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and His Royal Majesty, King Seiyifa Koroye, the revered Pere of Tarakiri Kingdom. Their dedication to service and community upliftment was once again on display during the grand celebration of the monarch’s 2nd coronation anniversary held on November 15, 2025, in Toru-Orua, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The anniversary ceremony, rich in tradition and cultural splendour, brought together chiefs, women groups, sons and daughters of Tarakiri, and admirers from across the Niger Delta. It was not merely a commemorative gathering but a reflection of King Seiyifa Koroye’s deep influence, stabilizing presence, and progressive vision for his people. Under his reign, the kingdom has continued to enjoy peace, unity, and an improving social atmosphere that inspires hope and strengthens communal bonds.
Among the prominent personalities in attendance was Prince Dr. Doodei A. Week, a proud son of Tarakiri Kingdom and an exemplary leader whose contributions to regional development have earned him widespread respect. His presence at the ceremony was more than ceremonial—it was an affirmation of his commitment to the cultural heritage of his people and his continuous support for the traditional institution that anchors the identity of the Tarakiri nation.
Representing the Managing Director of the NDDC at the colourful event was Hon. Joseph Alakere, who conveyed the Commission’s goodwill and its recognition of the strategic role of traditional rulers in fostering peace and supporting development initiatives across the Niger Delta. Also in attendance was the Ibe-nanaowei of Ogboin Clan, King Oweipa Jones Ere, along with other dignitaries whose presence underscored the significance of the occasion and the respect commanded by King Koroye.
For Prince Dr. Doodei Week, the celebration was a reminder of the enduring bond between leadership and service. Known for his humility, accessibility, and genuine love for humanity, he used the opportunity to interact warmly with chiefs, women leaders, elders, and youths—reaffirming his role not just as a public servant, but as a bridge between government institutions and grassroots communities.
After the festivities, Dr. Week exemplified his compassionate nature by making a brief but heartfelt condolence stop at the residence of Hon. Obosi, who recently lost his beloved sister, Madam Foster. He extended sincere sympathies to Hon. Obosi’s father and family, offering comfort and solidarity during their moment of grief. The late Madam Foster was laid to rest the previous night in Angiama, Sagbama LGA, and Dr. Week’s visit reflected his deep-rooted values of empathy, unity, and community support—qualities increasingly rare yet profoundly needed in public leadership.
As Tarakiri Kingdom celebrates another year under the wise leadership of HRM King Seiyifa Koroye, the people also take pride in sons like Dr. Doodei A. Week, whose work within and beyond the region continues to illuminate the path of progress. Together, these two leaders embody the spirit of Tarakiri—resilient, hopeful, dignified, and steadily advancing toward a future built on unity, development, and cultural pride.
Their partnership—one rooted in mutual respect and a shared vision for their people—offers a compelling reminder that when traditional leadership and public service align, communities flourish, heritage is strengthened, and the aspirations of the people find a powerful voice.
Tarakiri Kingdom stands today not only to celebrate its revered monarch but also to acknowledge the unwavering loyalty and service of one of its most illustrious sons. And in doing so, it honors a legacy of leadership that continues to inspire the Niger Delta and reaffirm the timeless truth that true leaders uplift their people both in moments of celebration and in times of mourning.
