Hon. Prince Doodei Week, Ph.D., Director of Procurement at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), on Thursday joined family members, friends, and political associates in Oporoma Town, the headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, to honor the life and legacy of his late paternal aunt, Mrs. Bomo Daba Onini.
The funeral ceremony drew a large crowd from within and outside the state, creating an atmosphere rich with culture, solidarity, and shared affection for the deceased. Traditional wrestling displays and other cultural activities added color and vibrancy to the event, reflecting the deep-rooted customs of the Ijaw people and celebrating the life of a woman fondly remembered by her community.
In his heartfelt tribute, Dr. Week extolled the virtues of the late Mrs. Onini, describing her as a woman of warmth, integrity, and unwavering commitment to family and community values. He emphasized that her legacy would continue to inspire all who knew her.

The event also featured a spirited traditional wrestling match between Abacha Nigeria of Igeibiri community and Ugbo Kpun of Ikibiri community, a spectacle that further enlivened the gathering.
Dignitaries present included the Majority Leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Monday Obolo Bubou, alongside senior government officials, traditional rulers, business leaders, and sympathizers from neighboring communities and other states. Their presence underscored the high regard in which the Onini family is held.
The ceremony was not only a moment of mourning but also one of reflection, unity, and cultural pride, as the community came together to bid farewell to a beloved matriarch
