In a solemn yet uplifting atmosphere marked by gratitude and reflection, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, joined the people of Ayakoro Community to honour the life and legacy of the late His Royal Highness, Righteous Inegbagha, Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro.

Dr. Ogbuku arrived at the thanksgiving service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Ayakoro Community, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, as dignitaries, traditional rulers, clergy, and community members gathered to celebrate a life widely remembered for wisdom, peace, and service to humanity.

The presence of the NDDC helmsman at the sacred event underscored the deep respect accorded the late monarch and reflected Dr. Ogbuku’s enduring commitment to community engagement, cultural reverence, and empathetic leadership. As hymns of thanksgiving filled the church, the service became not only a moment of mourning but also a celebration of a ruler whose reign left an indelible imprint on Ayakoro and its people.

Observers noted that Dr. Ogbuku’s participation went beyond protocol. His calm demeanour and interaction with the bereaved royal family and community leaders spoke to a leader who values tradition and recognises the stabilising role of traditional institutions in grassroots development and social cohesion across the Niger Delta.

The late HRH Righteous Inegbagha was fondly remembered during the service as a custodian of culture, a voice of unity, and a father figure who championed peace and progress within and beyond Ayakoro Community. Prayers and tributes highlighted his dedication to justice, communal harmony, and moral leadership—virtues that resonated deeply with attendees.

For many present, Dr. Ogbuku’s attendance symbolised solidarity with the people of Ogbia and reaffirmed the NDDC leadership’s human-centred approach to governance—one that honours history, respects tradition, and stands with communities in moments of joy and grief alike.
As the thanksgiving service continues, Ayakoro Community remains united in gratitude for a life well lived and hopeful that the values exemplified by the late monarch will endure.

In paying tribute, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku once again demonstrated that true leadership is anchored not only in policy and programmes, but also in compassion, presence, and respect for the institutions that bind society together.
