HRH Righteous Inegbagha

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), All Is Well Parish, Ayakoro, on Wednesday, hosted a solemn and deeply reflective Service of Songs in honour of the late Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro, His Royal Highness, Righteous Inegbagha. The occasion marked the commencement of a series of events designed to celebrate the life, legacy, and enduring impact of a ruler whose reign was defined by righteousness, peace, and community development.

The service was attended by distinguished personalities from within and outside Bayelsa State, including the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Samuel Ogbuku, who is also the Deputy Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro; Hon. Israeli Sunny Goli; Barr. George Alabh Turnah, Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South-South; Hon. Ibegi, former Commissioner in Bayelsa State; members of the Ayakoro Council of Chiefs; the widow of the late monarch, his children and extended family members; community leaders; sympathisers; and well wishers.

Also present were members of the pastorate and congregation of RCCG, who lent spiritual depth to the occasion.

In her sermon, Pastor Alalade Bolarinwa, who presided over the service, delivered a soul searching charge on the necessity of being rapture ready, urging all present particularly the family to live continually prepared for eternity with God. His message emphasised faith, righteousness, and the assurance of eternal life for those who live in accordance with God’s will.

Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the family and the Ayakoro community, Dr Samuel Ogbuku described the moment as solemn rather than celebratory, while affirming that the late monarch lived a life worthy of honour.

“This is a solemn moment, not a time of merriment,” he said. “However, we are consoled by the fact that our Paramount Ruler lived a worthy life—one truly deserving of celebration. His name was Righteous, and the Bible says that when the righteous rule, the people rejoice. Throughout his reign, Ayakoro witnessed remarkable transformation, peace, and development. That transformation forms the very foundation of the legacy we are celebrating today.”

Dr Ogbuku noted that the developmental strides and harmony enjoyed in Ayakoro today were direct reflections of the late ruler’s godly leadership, humility, team spirit, and love-driven governance.

He further expressed confidence in the future of the community, stating that just as Christ promised that greater works would follow Him, so too would Ayakoro witness the emergence of leaders who would build upon the solid foundation laid by HRH Righteous Inegbagha.

“We believe that as he has departed, greater blessings will come upon this community. We believe Ayakoro will not see sorrow or untimely death. He has taken all of that away and has enthroned development and peace in this land.”

Dr Ogbuku highlighted the outpouring of love and unity demonstrated by the community, noting that contributions toward the burial came voluntarily from residents and indigenes at home and in the diaspora alike.

“This overwhelming support tells a powerful story,” he said. “It speaks to the depth of love the people had for him, a love that did not arise by chance. It flowed naturally from a leader who himself radiated love, humility, and fear of God.”

He recalled that the late monarch was also a pastor in the RCCG, adding that even in death, his life had inspired growth and transformation within the church another testament to his lasting influence.

Concluding, Dr Ogbuku formally declared the Service of Songs as the official opening of the burial activities, noting that events would continue until Sunday. He extended gratitude to all attendees and prayed for journey mercies for those travelling to and from Ayakoro within the burial period.

“On behalf of the family, the church, and the entire Ayakoro community, we say thank you. We are mourning, yet we are celebrating—a righteous man who ruled with the fear of God, whose life brought joy, peace, and development to his people.”

The Service of Songs was marked by solemn worship, reflections, and a profound sense of gratitude for a life well lived one whose legacy will remain firmly etched in the history of Ayakoro Kingdom.
