PORT HARCOURT – In a significant move toward fostering regional synergy and intellectual development, the Managing Director and CEO of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, hosted a high-level consultative visit from the Rivers Ijaw People’s Congress (RIPCON) at the Commission’s headquarters.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of RIPCON, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, marking a strategic intersection between legislative experience and regional executive leadership.

Building an Intellectual Legacy

A central highlight of the visit was the presentation of an extensive literary collection authored by Senator Sekibo. This gesture underscored a shared commitment to documenting the Niger Delta’s history and the intricacies of Nigerian governance. The collection presented to Dr. Ogbuku includes:
Legislative & Governance Studies: Inside the Chambers, Nigerian Parliamentary Terminologies, Parliamentary Debates, and Nigerian Elections Management.

Cultural & Local Heritage:

The Rebirth of Ogu Kingdom and The Compendium of the Cultural Heritage of Ogu Kingdom.

Inspirational & Analytical Works: Anything Is Possible, Essays to the Senator, and Beyond Measure.
A Vision for Regional Transformation
Dr. Ogbuku praised the Senator’s contributions to the intellectual landscape of the region, noting that such works serve as a blueprint for the younger generation. The discussions during the visit centered on three core pillars:

Cultural Preservation: Leveraging
historical documentation to maintain the identity of the Niger Delta people.

Youth Inspiration: Utilizing literature and mentorship to steer the youth toward constructive engagement.
Regional Unity: Strengthening the bonds between diverse ethnic and political stakeholders to ensure a peaceful environment for development.

"This visit reinforces our mission at the NDDC to not only build physical infrastructure but to invest in the 'soft infrastructure' of knowledge, culture, and unity." — Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, MD/CEO, NDDC.
Under the current leadership of Dr. Ogbuku, the NDDC continues to pivot toward its mantra of "Making a Difference," prioritizing collaborations that ensure the sustainable progress of the Niger Delta region.
