NDDC LEADERSHIP REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO TINUBU’S LEGACY PROJECTS: EBIE AND OGBUKU INSPECT KEY INFRASTRUCTURE IN RIVERS STATE
PORT HARCOURT, NIGERIA — In a decisive move to actualize the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) conducted a high-level inspection of transformative "legacy projects" across Rivers State on March 5, 2026.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Governing Board, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, and the Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, demonstrated the Commission's unwavering resolve to bridge the infrastructure gap and elevate the living standards of the Niger Delta people.
BRIDGING COMMUNITIES: THE KAA-ATABA STRATEGIC LINK
The inspection began at the 1.2-kilometre Kaa-Ataba Bridge, a monumental engineering feat designed to link the Khana and Andoni Local Government Areas.
Chairman Chiedu Ebie emphasized that the bridge is one of the most significant infrastructure undertakings in the Commission’s history. Dr. Samuel Ogbuku further highlighted that the project is not merely about concrete and steel, but about stimulating economic activities and fostering regional integration.
"We are satisfied with the level of progress recorded so far," the leadership noted. "Our Board and Management are working hand-in-glove with contractors to ensure this project is delivered on schedule to mark the third anniversary of Mr. President in office."
REVOLUTIONIZING REGIONAL HEALTHCARE: THE NIGER DELTA REGIONAL HOSPITAL
The tour proceeded to the Orthopaedic and Cardiovascular Hospital in Port Harcourt. This specialized facility represents the NDDC’s holistic approach to development, moving beyond roads to address critical healthcare needs.
Dr. Samuel Ogbuku reaffirmed that the hospital would be equipped with world-class modern medical facilities. To ensure sustainability and excellence, the Commission intends to:
- Engage in strategic partnerships with global hospital management experts.
- Provide specialized care in cardiovascular and orthopaedic medicine.
- Create a medical hub that serves as a center of excellence for both the region and the nation.
DELIVERING THE RENEWED HOPE AGENDA
The visit served as a powerful reaffirmation of the directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Both Mr. Ebie and Dr. Ogbuku made it clear: abandoned projects are a thing of the past.
Under the current leadership, the NDDC is transitioning from a "contracts-based" agency to a "project-delivery" powerhouse. The commitment to commissioning these legacy projects by May 2026 stands as a testament to the efficient and transparent governance currently steering the Commission.
