The management and staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) participated in a pivotal one-day enlightenment session centered on good governance and the ethical code of conduct. The event, which underscored the Commission's current trajectory toward institutional transparency, featured a keynote lecture by the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello.
Throughout the session, Dr. Bello provided an exhaustive analysis of the 14 Codes of Conduct governing public office in Nigeria. His presentation offered critical insights into the rigorous standards expected of public servants, emphasizing that strict compliance is not merely a regulatory requirement but a foundational element of effective public service. The lecture served as a roadmap for personnel to navigate their daily responsibilities with an acute awareness of the ethical implications of their actions.
Addressing the assembly, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, reaffirmed the Commission's dedication to building an agency anchored on accountability and integrity. He noted that as a people-focused interventionist body, the NDDC’s operational success is inextricably linked to the highest standards of professionalism. Dr. Ogbuku further emphasized that every staff member must internalize the core values of discipline and responsibility, ensuring that all activities align with the guidelines established by the CCB and other relevant federal regulations.
The atmosphere of the engagement reflected a collective determination to strengthen institutional processes. By focusing on ethical behavior and the respect for established rules, the Commission aims to ensure that every project and programme yields a tangible, positive impact on the lives of the people within the Niger Delta region.
The session concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among the staff, marking another milestone in the NDDC's mission to earn and maintain the trust of its diverse stakeholders through integrity-driven service. This commitment to reform and ethical fortification remains a central pillar of the current administration’s vision for a more efficient and transparent interventionist agency.
