In a decisive move that underscores his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to regional transformation, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, has facilitated the delivery of essential medical supplies to the Orogbum Primary Healthcare Centre. This strategic intervention, executed through the Commission’s Directorate of Education, Health, and Social Services (EHSS) on June 5, highlights Dr. Ogbuku’s hands-on approach to tackling the foundational challenges of the Niger Delta people. By prioritizing the health of local communities, the MD/CEO continues to demonstrate that sustainable development must begin with a healthy and empowered citizenry at the grassroots level.

Representing the MD/CEO at the presentation, the Director of EHSS, Dr. Patience Ezugu, formally handed over the vital medical resources to state health authorities. In her remarks, Dr. Ezugu emphasized that this impactful gesture is a direct reflection of Dr. Ogbuku’s ongoing policy to aggressively strengthen grassroots healthcare systems and ensure that rural communities gain unhindered access to quality medical resources. Under Dr. Ogbuku's current administration, the NDDC has shifted its focus toward high-impact, direct community investments, moving away from bureaucratic delays to deliver immediate, life-saving solutions where they are needed most.

Receiving the medical supplies on behalf of the Secretary of the Rivers State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Chituru Adele, was Dr. Lawson-Jack, the Director of Medical Services for the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board. Dr. Lawson-Jack expressed profound gratitude to Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, and the NDDC for what he described as a remarkably timely and crucial intervention. He assured the Commission that the state-of-the-art equipment and supplies would be deployed immediately and utilized with the highest level of efficiency to enhance day-to-day patient care, significantly upgrading the diagnostic and treatment capacity of the facility.

The event, which brought together key stakeholders, was also attended by the Head of the Orogbum Facility, Dr. Blessing Nwabueze, alongside the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman of the Orogbum community. The presence of local leadership underscores the community-centric model of development championed by Dr. Ogbuku, which ensures that projects are not just dropped off, but are deeply integrated into the local governance for long-term sustainability. The community leaders praised the NDDC boss for remembering Orogbum and matching his administrative promises with concrete actions.

By bypass-investing directly into vital community health infrastructure, the Niger Delta Development Commission, under the stellar guidance of Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, continues to drive a quiet but powerful sustainable transformation across the entire region. This latest healthcare intervention adds to a growing portfolio of human capacity and infrastructural achievements that define Dr. Ogbuku’s tenure, cementing his reputation as a performance-driven leader dedicated to rewriting the narrative of the Niger Delta.
